Regarding the lack of sugar in the fluids infused during anesthesia and the duration of NPO and the surgery, there is an increased risk of hypoglycemia during and after the surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the blood sugar changes before and after elective surgeries that use the usual fluid therapy (no sugar). Methods: It was a descriptive-analytic design study. One hundred patients with an ASA class  and an elective surgery with less than 2 hours duration randomly participated into the study. The patients divided into male and female groups with NPO duration of 8-10 h, 10-12 h and more than 12 h and two age groups of 15-30 and 30-45 years old. The blood sugar was measured 15 minutes prior to the onset of surgery and 15 minutes after the end of the operation. Data was analyzed by SPSS using Paired and Independent Samples T-test. Results: The blood sugar at the end of the surgery was significantly higher than its amount before the onset of the operation and even without using dextrose-containing fluids during anesthesia and patients NPO condition, hypoglycemia was not observed. In this study, age, gender and NPO duration did not have a significant effect on blood sugar before and after the surgery. Conclusion: Using dextrose-containing fluids during fluid therapy of elective surgeries is unnecessary and only monitoring the blood sugar during prolonged surgeries is recommended in order to prevent hypoglycemia and its complications.}, keywords = {NPO,Hyperglycemia,hypoglycemia,stress response to operation,catecholamine,and fluid therapy}, title_fa = {بررسی میزان تغییرات قند خون قبل و بعد از بیهوشی اعمال جراحی الکتیو با روش مایع درمانی رایج}, abstract_fa = {مقدمه: در اعمال جراحی طولانی مدت، در صورتی که مایع درمانی طی بیهوشی فاقد مایعات حاوی قند باشد، مقدار قند خون قبل و بعد از عمل تفاوت دارد. با توجه به فقدان قند در مایعات تزریقی حین بیهوشی، مدت زمان ناشتا بودن و طول عمل جراحی، خطر هیپوگلیسمی در حین و یا پس از عمل وجود دارد. هدف این مطالعه تعیین تغییرات قند خون قبل و بعد از اعمال جراحی الکتیو با روش مایع درمانی رایج (فاقد قند) بود.مواد و روش: این پژوهش، یک مطالعه توصیفی- تحلیلی بود. صد نفر از افراد باASA کلاس 1و عمل جراحی الکتیو با مدت کمتر از 2 ساعت به صورت تصادفی در مطالعه شرکت کردند. بیماران به دو دسته زن و مرد با مدت زمان NPO 10-8 ، 12-10 و بیش از 12 ساعت و دو گروه سنی 30-15 و 45-30 سال تقسیم شدند. قند خون بیماران 15 دقیقه قبل از شروع و 15 دقیقه پس از اتمام جراحی با استفاده از گلوکومتر اندازه‌گیری شد. اطلاعات با استفاده از نرم افزار SPSS و آزمون‌های تی زوجی و تی مستقل تجزیه تحلیل شد.یافته‌ها: قند خون پس از عمل جراحی نسبت به قند خون قبل از جراحی افزایش معنی‌دار داشته و علیرغم استفاده از مایعات فاقد دکستروز در حین بیهوشی و NPO بودن بیماران، هیپوگلیسمی رخ نداد. در این مطالعه سن، جنسیت و مدت NPO تاثیر معنی‌داری بر روی قند خون قبل و بعد از عمل نداشت.بحث و نتیجه‌گیری: وجود مایعات حاوی دکستروز جهت مایع درمانی حین بیهوشی در اعمال جراحی الکتیو غیر ضروری بوده و تنها پایش قند خون در حین جراحی‌های طولانی مدت برای جلوگیری از هیپوگلیسیمیک شدن بیمار و عوارض آن توصیه می‌گردد.}, keywords_fa = {NPO,هیپوگلیسمی,هیپرگلیسمی,پاسخ استرسی به جراحی,کاتکل آمین ها ومایع درمانی}, url = {https://smsj.sums.ac.ir/article_43985.html}, eprint = {https://smsj.sums.ac.ir/article_43985_25b8c7fe4d051464eee3f8be264a0afe.pdf} }
